POINTE YOUR TOES!-LOTSIE AND MENDEL

Solar, Open

This class will be mostly collaborative with a focus on choreography and the creative process. We will start with a few basic calibrations and simple transitions to understand flow, improvisation techniques and games to refine the idea of giving and receiving weight. You will then have time to work within your groups to create a flow and have the opportunity to perform for the class. There will be an emphasis on aesthetics and performance quality so that we begin to understand acroyoga performance as an art form rather than just a bunch of tricks strung together. It's not about mastering the tricks or having a big "aha" moment. It's about self expression, creativity, teamwork and a holistic approach to performance. All levels welcome.

Pre-reqs: Some experience with acroyoga, dance and/or improv basics encouraged.

ACRO SOUL MAGIC-LORI AND JEFF

Solar, Beginner

Create New Patterns of Play and Connection

In AcroYoga, we can get wrapped up in the technical details of foot placement, body posture, and weight distribution. We may forget that we are people interacting with other people, and we may forget to breathe and listen, tuning in to ourselves and to our partners. This lack of presence disrupts our synchronization, and we come crashing down.

What happens when we shift our attitude to release the emphasis on outcome? As bases and flyers, we need to attune and respond intuitively. Become a stronger Acroyogi by developing your capacity to synchronize with your partner, empowering Acroyoga's relational, collaborative nature.

“Magic is the willingness to cooperate with everything.” (Caroline Casey). Through guided movement, grounding breath work, and creative process, we will explore magical ways to find stability in flight.

No partner required.

Pre-reqs: Experience going out of synch with your partner and falling or dropping someone.

TRAINWRECK -ADAM AND KATHRYN

Solar, Open

Why do you train? To Trainwreck with Grace! This style of AcroPlay is intuitive, spontaneous and frequently chaotic. Now that you've learned the forms, forget them. This is an environment to explore weight-sharing and transitions beyond the boundaries of standardized techniques and flows. With a strong emphasis on non-verbal communication, students will exercise their kinesthetic receptivity and responsiveness to freestyle flows. We will focus on principles of movement rather than techniques as a foundation to co-create an entirely new movement vocabulary.

Pre-reqs: A solid foundation with "L" basing and/or flying. Participants will be encouraged to work with similar-size partners and trade roles as flyer and base.
